What are the benefits of a facial?
Our facials will cleanse, moisturize, firm and rejuvenate your skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and your skin will radiate a healthy glow. In addition, the Aveda facial experience includes complimentary massage services that will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Here are the details of our facials:
- Consultation and Skin Analysis
- We begin by discussing your skin type and any challenges you may have in caring for your skin. We examine your face for pore size, oiliness or dryness, and skin discolourations so that we may tailor the facial to your individual needs.
- Cleansing and Toning
- Dry skin is gently cleansed with a moisturizing cleansing creme while a gel cleanser is used on oily or sensitive skin. Once the skin has been cleansed a toner is applied to lock in moisture.
- Lip Protection
- Aveda's waterproof Lip SaverTM SPF 15 is applied to moisturize and protect your lips during the facial.
- Exfoliation
- An exfoliation removes dull, dead cells from the skin's surface. This makes your skin glow and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We use Aveda's Botanical Skin Resurfacing Treatment that is clinically proven to provide the same beneficial results as salon dermabrasion but with less irritation and redness.
- Heat Application
- Hot towels are gently wrapped around your face to open the pores in preparation for the facial masque. We prefer using towels rather than steam because we can control the temperature, making it a safer alternative. It is gentler on the skin, especially with skin problems like rosacea and acne that can be aggravated by exposure to steam.
- Extractions (Facial for Self Renewal only)
- Debris is gently removed from the pores, leaving your skin scrupulously clean and reducing pore size.
- Masque
- We use different types of masques depending on your skin type. A cream masque is good for hydrating dry skin. A gel masque is used on sensitive or oily skin and it reduces any redness resulting from pore extractions. Both types of masques firm the skin tone.
The masque is applied to the face, neck and décolleté (upper chest area) with massage movements that combine pressure point, lymphatic drainage and Ayurvedic massage techniques. The body's lymphatic system removes waste material from tissue cells. A lymphatic drainage massage stimulates this process which detoxifies the skin, improves circulation, reduces puffiness, and firms and tones the skin.
Once the masque has been applied, moist towels are placed over the area. Hot towels are used on dry skin while cold towels are used on sensitive or oily skin to help reduce any redness. Complimentary arm, foot, scalp massages are performed while the masque is on. The masque is then removed using the moist towels.
- Toning and Moisturizing
- A toner is applied again to seal in moisture and firm the skin. Then a moisturizer, a vitamin-enriched skin serum, eye creme (for puffiness and discolouration), and a sun protection lotion (with SPF 15) are applied. The moisturizers and serum are selected to suit your skin type.
- Finishing Touch
- We complete your facial with a complimentary application of Aveda's Lip Tint SPF 15, a tinted lip conditioner with organic oils and an anti-oxidant. It provides protection from the sun's UVA and UVB rays.
You'll see a noticeable improvement in your skin; it gives off a healthy glow, fine lines and wrinkles are minimized, and your skin will appear firmer and more toned.
